Our Projects

PRABHAT, with the support of MEDP and NABARD, has been actively involved in promoting livelihood enhancement and skill development initiatives for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the region. Comprehensive training programs were conducted on vermi compost preparation, mushroom cultivation, broom binding, and khali stitching, enabling SHG members to adopt sustainable and income-generating activities. These trainings not only enhanced their technical skills but also encouraged them to utilize locally available resources effectively. Furthermore, SHG bank linkages were facilitated to provide access to credit and financial support, empowering members to start or expand their small-scale enterprises. Through these interventions, PRABHAT aimed to strengthen women’s economic independence, promote entrepreneurship, and improve household income. Overall, the initiative contributed significantly to the socio-economic upliftment of rural communities by fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The Special Programme for Promotion of Millets in Tribal Areas (Shree Anna Abhiyan) in (Chandrapur & Gudari) Rayagada, (Kishorenagar) Angul and (Danagadi) Jajpur focuses on enhancing millet production and consumption among tribal farmers. It promotes sustainable agriculture, nutritional security, and climate-resilient farming practices. The programme improves livelihoods and empowers farming communities economically.

Line sowing of paddy and demonstration during Kharif in Chandrapur, Rayagada aim to promote scientific farming practices among farmers. The initiative improves crop productivity, ensures better resource utilization, and reduces input costs. It enhances farmers’ knowledge and supports sustainable agricultural development.

Hybrid maize demonstration during Kharif 2013 in Chandrapur, Rayagada showcased advanced cultivation techniques using high-yield hybrid varieties. The initiative aimed to enhance maize productivity and promote modern agricultural practices. It helped farmers improve income and adopt sustainable farming methods.

The Special Programme for Promotion of Integrated Farming (SPPIF) in Chandrapur and Gudari, Rayagada focuses on diversifying farming systems by integrating crops, livestock, fisheries, and horticulture. It promotes sustainable livelihoods, nutritional security, and efficient resource utilization. The programme enhances farmers’ income and strengthens rural economic development.

The Comprehensive Project on Rice Fallow Management System during Rabi 2023-24 in eleven blocks of Rayagada aims to utilize post-harvest rice fallow lands for cultivating pulses and oilseeds. It promotes efficient land use, enhances crop productivity, and improves farmers’ income. The project supports sustainable agriculture and livelihood diversification.

PRABHAT implemented the formation and strengthening of Farmers Clubs (FCs) and Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) in Chandrapur, Rayagada to promote collective learning, resource sharing, and community empowerment. Farmers were organized into FCs to adopt modern farming practices, improve vegetable cultivation, and enhance productivity and income through training, demonstrations, and exposure visits. Simultaneously, WSHGs were formed and strengthened to build self-reliance, facilitated with bank linkages, and supported in income-generating activities. These initiatives together promoted sustainable agriculture, women’s empowerment, and socio-economic development in the region.

The Implementation and Promotion of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in Chandrapur, Rayagada focuses on adopting improved paddy cultivation techniques to enhance productivity. The initiative reduces water usage, lowers input costs, and promotes sustainable farming practices. It helps farmers achieve higher yields and better income.

PRABHAT, with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), conducted orientation programs for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in Rayagada district to promote informed choices and voluntary family planning among rural communities. The initiative focused on strengthening the knowledge, counseling skills, and capacity of ASHAs, enabling them to effectively guide couples on safe, reliable, and accessible family planning methods. Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and practical training, ASHAs were empowered to raise awareness at the grassroots level, address myths and misconceptions, and encourage responsible reproductive health practices. This effort contributed significantly to improving maternal and child health outcomes and supporting the broader goal of population stabilization and community well-being in the district.

The Restore Promise of Water (RPOW) project through silt removal in Chandrapur, Rayagada focuses on rejuvenating water bodies to improve water storage and availability. The initiative enhances irrigation potential, supports sustainable agriculture, and mitigates water scarcity. It strengthens livelihoods and promotes efficient water resource management.

The Preparation of Village Development Management Plan for 72 villages (Phase-I) in Chandrapur, Gudari, and Ramanaguda and 59 villages (Phase-II) in Chandrapur, Gudari, and Muniguda under DDMA, Rayagada focuses on strengthening disaster preparedness and community resilience. The plan involves identifying local vulnerabilities, available resources, and risk reduction strategies. It promotes participatory planning by involving village communities in decision-making. The initiative ensures better coordination for disaster response and sustainable development. Ultimately, it empowers rural communities to effectively manage risks and improve livelihood security.

Households during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 under the countrywide lockdown in Chandrapur, Rayagada was carried out as part of humanitarian aid with the support of Azim Premji Foundation as the funding agency. The initiative aimed to support vulnerable families affected by income loss and food scarcity. Essential food items were provided to ensure food security and reduce hardships. Community volunteers and local authorities coordinated to reach maximum beneficiaries. This effort helped sustain livelihoods and provided relief during the unprecedented crisis.

Implementation of the Crop Diversification Programme under Mega Lift Irrigation Projects (CDP-MLIP) was undertaken in Danagadi and Korei blocks of Jajpur and Attamallik Block of Angul district to promote sustainable and climate-resilient farming. Farmers were encouraged to adopt high-value crops such as pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, and spices in place of traditional paddy. Field demonstrations, capacity-building programs, and technical trainings were conducted to enhance farmers’ skills. The improved irrigation facilities under MLIP enabled round-the-year cultivation and higher productivity. The initiative aimed to increase farmers’ income and ensure efficient utilization of water resources.

The Mukhyamantri Maka Mission (MMM) was implemented in Chandrapur block, Rayagada, to enhance maize productivity and farmers’ income. Farmers received high-yielding seeds, input support, and technical training through field demonstrations and capacity-building programs. The initiative aimed at improving production, market linkages, and sustainable livelihoods.

Worked with **Vedanta Foundation**, a registered charitable trust, to implement various community development and livelihood initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of tribal and marginalized communities. The interventions included sensitization and capacity-building programs for traditional leaders and healers, along with proper documentation. A comprehensive mapping and baseline survey were conducted, leading to the preparation of a development intervention plan for twelve mining villages. Tailoring and embroidery training were provided to **Dangaria Kondh women**, focusing on traditional Dangaria crafts to enhance their livelihood opportunities. **Balchetana activities** were carried out to promote early childhood education and nutrition in villages without Anganwadi facilities. Education support was extended to non-school-going children, while selection and pre-test coaching were organized to facilitate their admission into reputed and recognized schools. Additionally, vocational training on **masonry** and **electrical work** was provided to **Dangaria and SC youths**, supported with hostel facilities to ensure effective residential learning and skill development.

PRABHAT, with funding support from the BTT Convenor, FIAC Chandrapur, conducted various capacity-building programs, farm schools, and Kisan Gosthi to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills. These initiatives focused on promoting improved agricultural practices, crop diversification, and sustainable farming techniques. Farmers were trained through field demonstrations, interactive sessions, and expert guidance to increase productivity and income. The programs encouraged knowledge sharing among farmers and facilitated the adoption of modern technologies. Overall, the initiative contributed to strengthening the farming community in the region.

PRABHAT implemented the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) awareness programme in collaboration with the Organisation for Social Change and Rural Development (OSCARD) and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India in Lanjigarh, Kalahandi. The programme aimed to spread awareness on maternal health, child care, and family welfare practices. It strengthened community knowledge, promoted safe health practices, and improved access to healthcare services. This initiative contributed to better health outcomes for women and children in the region.
